The California Supreme Court upheld the legality of the ban on gay marriage, known as Proposition 8, that was passed by voters last year. It did, however, state that gay couples who were married before the passage of the law would be allowed to maintain their marital status. While it disgusts me that gay couples still do not have the same rights as heterosexual couples, I'm not disappointed with the court's decision to uphold the will of the voting public – I'm disappointed with the voting public.
