Justin Hemlepp, an attorney in Florida, is TheSequitur.com's editor emeritus and chairman of TheSequitur.com Editorial Board. He was the magazine's founding executive editor (Jan. 2006 - May 2008).
Hemlepp was born in Kentucky where he delivered newspapers for the local afternoon daily. He since has reported and edited public affairs and student issues for the Independent Florida Alligator, the nation’s largest independently run student newspaper, worked at the Gainesville Sun as a Web producer, researcher and reporter and reported stories from Florida and England for FSULaw magazine.
A University of Florida alumnus with journalism and political science degrees, Hemlepp has clerked for a Nevada law firm, served as a professor's research assistant and was executive editor and articles & notes editor of the Journal of Transnational Law and Policy. The Journal selected his 2008 article, “Rachel’s Law” Wraps New York’s Long-Arm Around Libel Tourists; Will Congress Follow Suit?, for publication. During law school Hemlepp studied jurisdiction in international defamation law, focusing on the Internet and Web publishers. His law degree is accompanied by a certificate in international law, with honors.
Hemlepp lives in Tallahassee, Fla. with his wife, daughter and four cats.
