Tase.
The word was made famous by Andrew Meyer, the University of Florida student involved in an incident with University Police, a John Kerry speech and a Taser.
“Don’t Tase me, bro” soon became part of late night monologues, T-shirts, and other gear Internet entrepreneurs could come up with.
Now the word is a regular part of the lexicon.
Tase was runner up for word of the year as voted by the Oxford American Dictionary.
The word of the year? Locavore, a word for a movement that encourages buying from local farmers or growing your own food. [Gainesville Sun] Jared Leone, a TheSequitur.com senior editor, is a staff writer for the St. Petersburg Times and a federal courthouse stringer for the Associated Press.
