According to a list compiled by The Sun, British singer Amy Winehouse is the most successful artist of the year thus far. “Back to Black” – her historical album – has sold 3.67 million copies worldwide in the last 6 months, with CD sales totaling almost 10 million since its release in 2006.
Among other British musicians, Coldplay also is on the list of best-sellers. The band has sold 2.6 million copies of its brand new album, “Viva La Vida,” released a month ago. But let’s not talk about sadness and melancholy.
Here’s the list, in descending order:
- Amy Winehouse – "Back to Black"
- Coldplay – "Viva La Vida"
- Leona Lewis – "Spirit"
- Jack Johnson – "Sleep Through The Static"
- Duffy – "Rockferry"
- Madonna – "Hard Candy"
- Alicia Keys – "Teenage Love Affair"
- Mariah Carey – "E=MC2"
- Lil’ Wayne – "Tha Carter III"
- Michael Jackson – "Thriller" (re-released)
